About The Position

Legal Aid of Southeast and Central Ohio (LASCO) is offering a Communications Internship for the Fall 2026 term. This internship is part of the Communication and Development team and aims to amplify LASCO’s message, engage supporters, and build community relationships. The intern will support outreach and development efforts, working closely with the Communications Director and the development team on various communication initiatives. These initiatives will inform and engage stakeholders, including clients, donors, pro bono attorneys, and community partners.

Requirements

• Strong verbal and written communication skills tailored to different audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Creative, organized, and eager to learn.
• Passion for social justice and serving under-served communities.

Nice To Haves

• Experience using Canva, Hootsuite or Mailchimp (not required)
• Interest or experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, public relations, or fundraising is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the communications and outreach plan.
• Draft, design, and curate content for monthly newsletters, including client stories, updates, and impact highlights.
• Support the creation and distribution of LASCO’s summer fundraising appeal, including database management, donor research, and messaging.
• Help manage social media content and coordinate outreach with press and media outlets.
• Attend and contribute to weekly communications and development team meetings.
• Conduct research and contribute ideas to strengthen stakeholder engagement.
