About The Position

The CHEO Research Institute (CHEO RI) is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Communications Coordinator – Digital to elevate its digital communications. This role is responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of the CHEO RI’s digital content and channel presence, including daily administration of the digital content pipeline. The coordinator will ensure a consistent, high-quality flow of content across the new bilingual website, social media, intranet, newsletter, and digital displays. Working collaboratively with the CHEO RI communications team and communications colleagues across CHEO and the CHEO Foundation, this individual will develop and implement impactful digital communications strategies. The role involves analyzing digital channel performance to refine approaches and improve engagement, translating complex research information into compelling communications for specific audiences, and ensuring compliance with brand guidelines and accessibility standards.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field and equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience in digital communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce and steward a high volume of digital content across multiple platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience presiding over social media channels and digital content calendars within the framework of a complex organization’s brand.
  • Strong writing, editing, spelling, and grammatical skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms.
  • Hands on working knowledge of social media platforms, analytics, reporting tools, and digital best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in photo and video capture and editing skills for digital platforms.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Compliance with CHEO RI’s Universal COVID-19 Vaccination Policy.
  • Police Record Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in science and research communications.
  • Bilingual in English and French, with superior (A-level) writing skills in both languages.
  • Experience in UX/UI and AODA/WCAG compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and produce digital communications content for the CHEO RI website, intranet, social media, e-newsletters, events, and digital displays to promote research.
  • Provide digital communications advice and guidance to support communications plans and projects.
  • Contribute to and help maintain content management calendars for social media, editorial planning, and other communications activities.
  • Work collaboratively across CHEO and CHEO Foundation communications teams to cross-promote and align digital communications.
  • Drive active content development by working closely with internal teams, researchers, and partners to identify stories and opportunities for digital engagement.
  • Ensure content is aligned across channels to maximize reach, consistency, and impact.
  • Anchor CHEO RI digital communications in regular analytics and insights to carry out actionable recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to increase reach, engagement, and effectiveness across all digital channels.
  • Stay current on trends, tools, and platform changes and apply them where relevant, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with the CHEO RI brand guidelines and accessibility standards on all digital channels.
  • Apply sound judgment, organization and attention to detail in managing competing priorities.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
