About The Position

The MAT Clinic RN provides nursing care for patients receiving Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT) for opioid addiction and is responsible for improving the care of the patient population across health, substance abuse and mental health treatment, promoting patient activation and empowerment for shared decision-making in treatment, and encouraging healthy behaviors, self-management of health, mental health, and substance abuse conditions. Summit Pacific Medical Center is a vibrant and expanding public hospital district that operates a Critical Access Hospital with a Level IV trauma designation, three rural healthcare clinics, and a seven-day-a-week urgent care clinic. Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing required.
  • Current and unrestricted Washington State Registered Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within 60 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of nursing principles and procedures; knowledge and skill in techniques of good patient care.
  • Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of duties that require the use of independent judgment, advanced problem-solving, critical thinking, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, managers, and patients.
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.
  • Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems and equipment.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation and records.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Clinical experience with a substance use disorder treatment, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides safe and effective nursing care to MAT Clinic patients utilizing the nursing process.
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates individual nursing care, as clinically appropriate.
  • Conducts nursing procedures, therapies, tests and services, as ordered by members of the medical staff and within scope of training.
  • Provides telephone triage regarding symptom assessment, information, intervention and appropriate provider referral for patients.
  • Collaborates with providers on patients that require care management.
  • Establishes a therapeutic relationship with patients in order to work collaboratively on their care plan; coordinates family care meetings and visits for chronic care patients; provides post visit follow-up phone calls as needed.
  • Monitors the health status, treatment progress, and medication adherence of MAT patients.
  • Effectively prioritizes work to ensure prompt care for all patient encounters, including face-to-face visits, telephone messages and written requests.
  • Documents patient encounters, including HPI, exam, assessment and plan, working in partnership with the provider.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and professional work environment.
  • Participates in quality improvement programs and initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Builds and maintains working relationships: Maintains effective working relationships with supervisor and direct co-workers.
