About The Position

Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part-time adjunct positions as needed for the 2026-2027 academic year. The starting salary range is $67.00/hour; the Hourly rate may vary based on the type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and will remain active for up to two years. Qualified applicants will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, and/or division chairs if a need arises.

Requirements

Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, speech communication or organizational communication OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in drama/ theater arts, mass communication or English OR – The equivalent.
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406).
Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service.
Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administration in California Community Colleges.
Broadly prepared and have a depth of knowledge in the discipline.
Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
