About The Position

Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff part-time adjunct positions as needed for the 2026-2027 academic year. The starting salary range is $67.00/hour; the Hourly rate may vary based on the type of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and will remain active for up to two years. Qualified applicants will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, and/or division chairs if a need arises.

Requirements

  • Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, speech communication or organizational communication OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in drama/ theater arts, mass communication or English OR – The equivalent.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406).
  • Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an evaluation service.
  • Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administration in California Community Colleges.
  • Broadly prepared and have a depth of knowledge in the discipline.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
  • Completed Online Application for Employment form.
  • Current resume.
  • Copy of legible transcripts.
  • Work authorization should be established at the time of application submission.
