About The Position

Fresno City College is seeking a Full-Time, Tenure-Track Communication Arts Instructor. The ideal candidate will have experience and skill in incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility. This includes recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom, and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion shape participation and outcomes. The college is looking for a candidate willing to examine and remediate their instructional, relational, and classroom practices to more effectively engage and support these students.

Requirements

  • Master's in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication; OR Bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in drama/theater arts, mass communication or English; OR A valid California Community College Credential; OR The equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency).
  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with computers, and other technologies, which are utilized in providing high-quality instruction and support to students.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Experience working with a diverse student population.

Responsibilities
