The Office of Faculty Development & Diversity (OFDD) is seeking a Communication and Program Coordinator. This is a full time, 40 hour/week, on campus position (within daily commuting distance from Ithaca, NY). Some hybrid activities are possible, but the employee will be expected to be on campus regularly and frequently. Fully remote work is not available for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. The Office of Faculty Development & Diversity (OFDD) provides a range of resources and programs, including training and support for individual faculty, department chairs, and deans, in the areas of faculty development and diversity. OFDD works with faculty, chairs, and search committees to improve recruitment and retention practices and to increase diversity in faculty hiring. The office provides guidance to the academic leadership and to individual faculty members on mentoring and the tenure and promotion processes. OFDD also offers professional development programming and grants opportunities for faculty and academic staff. Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity, the Program Coordinator supports the planning, development, and implementation of high-quality programs for Cornell’s faculty (RTE, tenure track, tenured); The coordinator also creates content for promoting the OFDD, and preparing reports as requested. Demonstrating initiative, independent decision-making and a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, this position implements projects, facilitates interactions with people at all levels of the university, and organizes complex meetings, programs, and events. This role requires outstanding customer services skills and comfort working in an environment that serves a diverse population. Must also be able to work with a high degree of accuracy and handle confidential material per university policies. Prepare budget reports based on institutional data and budgets. Independently develop, initiate, organize, oversee and manage complex events and meetings, choose venue and catering, and draft and produce all ancillary materials including print and online media and promotion as necessary for each event. With input from the SAVP, independently determine and carry out all web page changes, draft and upload text, produce and edit all media, and manage departmental event calendars. Develop and manage departmental databases, producing reports on demand. Work closely with finance to oversee grant processing. Draft, edit, and finalize sensitive correspondence. Manage inventory and operation of office equipment and resources; signature and approval authority for all purchases. Serve as a primary point person and liaison to facilitate communication and collaboration among multiple units and constituents involved in the advancement of the office initiatives.
