About The Position

Overwatch Mission Critical is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Commissioning QA/QC Data Center Technician with an electrical state license. The technician will help ensure the quality and compliance of data center construction and operations by identifying and mitigating risks and ensuring adherence to industry standards and company procedures. The role supports construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and system transitions in an active data center construction environment, including BESS project work.

Requirements

3–5 years of construction experience, with a strong focus on QA/QC.
Demonstrated experience supporting BESS projects, including installation, operations, maintenance, quality control, or construction.
Strong understanding of single-line drawings and blueprints.
Understanding of data center design principles, construction methods, and industry standards, such as Uptime Institute Tier Standards and BICSI.
Experience with data center inspection procedures and quality control testing methods.
Load banking knowledge.
Electrical state license.
CPR/First Aid.
Proficiency using tablet devices for daily tasks, including email, document creation and editing, and industry-specific software.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including navigating active construction sites, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and wearing required PPE.
A valid driver's license may be required; for roles requiring on-site presence or travel between work locations, candidates must possess and maintain an appropriate valid license and be eligible to operate a motor vehicle.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience with CMMS.
Certifications in the electrical field or in data center design or operations, such as CDCP, NFPA 70e, or OSHA 10/30.

Responsibilities

Inspect data center construction projects for compliance with blueprints, specifications, and industry standards.
Perform quality control testing on data center equipment and infrastructure, including power systems.
Identify and document non-conformance and collaborate with the construction team on corrective actions.
Participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to verify systems function properly.
Execute testing and commissioning activities in accordance with designated site specifications, and contribute to or oversee creation of testing and commissioning documentation.
Maintain accurate, detailed records of inspections, tests, and findings.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to support quality assurance throughout the data center lifecycle.
Facilitate system transitions from construction, implement LOTO protocols, and provide technical support to enhance commissioning.
Stay current on industry best practices and quality standards for data center construction and operations.
May contribute to developing and implementing data center quality control programs.
