About The Position

This opportunity is for a Commissary Cook who is passionate about cooking amazing food using carefully chosen organic, local sustainable ingredients, including fresh products, ethically raised and grass-fed meat and dairy, and products without additives or preservatives. The commissary creates fresh juices and smoothies, gourmet sandwiches and wraps, salads, hearty soups, entrees, and an array of baked goods, with options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and paleo diets. The role offers several shifts that end well before midnight, making it suitable for those not passionate about traditional restaurant kitchen hours. It also provides a challenging and fun environment for culinary arts students to build signed hours for certification. Requirements

  • Food Safe Certificate - Level 1
  • Knowledge of provincial health, sanitization, and safety regulations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in volume food preparation as a prep or line cook
  • Education in related area
  • Knowledge of inventory control and food storage procedures

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cut, portion, and cook various vegetables, salads, and soups for our bistro
  • Ensure recipes are properly measured and have a keen eye for detail
  • Participate in proper rotation of stock in all areas of the kitchen to ensure freshness of products
  • Comply with rules about cleanliness and comply with WorkSafe, Food Safe and Nature's Fare standards at all times
  • Master all kitchen equipment including knives, mandolins, burners, rational ovens, large stock kettles, large mixers, immersion hand blenders, food processor, etc.
  • Ensure efficiency of the team by alerting the commissary manager of any equipment failure, product shortages, etc. in a timely manner
  • Complete assigned daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks
  • Contribute and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude
