About The Position

Smart Care is hiring a Commercial Refrigeration Installation Technician to install commercial refrigeration systems for supermarkets, grocery stores, and other commercial customers. The role installs refrigeration equipment and piping, mechanical and electrical components, and controls, and assists with startup, testing, leak detection, evacuation, and refrigerant charging. Technicians use hand tools, power tools, meters, and specialized equipment while following blueprints, manufacturer specifications, OSHA guidelines, safety procedures, and applicable industry codes.

The technician works with project managers, installation teams, subcontractors, and customers to complete projects on schedule and maintain a clean, organized, safe work environment. The position requires travel to customer locations and may involve occasional evening, weekend, or overnight assignments. The physical requirements include frequent movement and lifting or carrying materials weighing up to 70 pounds, as well as working on ladders, lifts, rooftops, elevated surfaces, and in varied indoor and outdoor temperatures.

Smart Care is a national repair and service provider for commercial foodservice, refrigeration, and cold storage equipment, offering mechanical services across cooking equipment, stand-alone refrigeration, specialty coffee and beverage, complex rack refrigeration, and HVAC.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in refrigeration, HVAC/R, mechanical installation, electrical work, plumbing, or a related trade.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical instructions.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours based on project needs.
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, squat, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to work on ladders, lifts, rooftops, and elevated surfaces.
• Ability to work in mechanical rooms, construction sites, and varying indoor and outdoor temperatures.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and specialized installation equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience installing commercial or supermarket refrigeration systems.
• Brazing, copper piping, or refrigeration piping experience.
• EPA Section 608 certification.
• HVAC/R technical training, trade school education, or industry certifications.
• Familiarity with compressors, condensers, evaporators, refrigeration controls, and electrical systems.
• OSHA safety training or certification.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial refrigeration systems and components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and refrigeration piping.
• Fabricate copper tubing and perform brazing and piping connections as needed.
• Install mechanical, electrical, and control components according to blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
• Assist with system startup, testing, leak detection, evacuation, and refrigerant charging.
• Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and specialized equipment to complete installations.
• Follow OSHA guidelines, safety procedures, and applicable industry codes.
• Coordinate with project managers, installation teams, subcontractors, and customers to complete projects on schedule.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Travel to customer locations and work occasional evenings, weekends, or overnight assignments as needed.
