About The Position

At Wegmans, the Maintenance Mechanic team ensures that stores, facilities, and equipment are professionally maintained to provide customers with fresh, high-quality products and employees with a safe, productive work environment. Team members solve complex problems, continue developing their skills, and have opportunities for advancement. In this role, you will collaborate with team members to repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment while following proper safety protocols. The position is based at 651 Dick Road, Depew, NY 14043, and includes morning, afternoon, and evening availability, including weekends.

Requirements

At least 5 years of related work experience.
Technical training through an apprenticeship, RSES, trade school, or equivalent work experience.
EPA Universal Certification.
Proficiency using a laptop computer and the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and operate building management systems, onboard control systems, and manufacturers’ PLC-based control systems.
Sound mechanical ability and knowledge of welding and plumbing.
Must be at least 18 years old.

Nice To Haves

Supermarket or restaurant equipment experience, including knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and operating standards.
Ability to independently diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
Identify and diagnose issues with refrigeration and HVAC control systems.
Repair self-contained cases and rooftop HVAC units of all types.
Apply knowledge of secondary glycol racked systems and conventional DX racked systems.
Work effectively with a team and assist other personnel to complete tasks on time.
Communicate with team members, supervisors, and customers; determine appropriate repair practices and assess downtime with store personnel.
Create and maintain preventive maintenance records for serviced equipment.
Maintain truck inventory.
Provide service to internal and external customers while upholding Wegmans' quality, food safety, and human safety standards.
