About The Position

At Wegmans, the Maintenance Mechanic team professionally maintains stores, facilities, and equipment to support fresh products and a safe, productive work environment. The team solves complex problems, learns and develops new skills, and has opportunities for advancement. In this role, you will collaborate with team members to repair and perform preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment while following proper safety protocols. The position is full time in Ocean, New Jersey, with availability required for mornings, afternoons, and evenings, including weekends. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The pay range is $33.25–$48.50 per hour.

Requirements

Five or more years of related work experience.
Technical training through an apprenticeship, RSES, trade school, or equivalent work experience.
EPA Universal Certification.
Proficiency using a laptop computer and ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and operate building management systems, onboard control systems, and manufacturer PLC-based control systems.
Sound mechanical ability and knowledge of welding and plumbing.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Availability for morning, afternoon, and evening work, including weekends.

Nice To Haves

Supermarket- or restaurant-related equipment experience, including knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and operating standards.
Ability to independently diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
Identify and diagnose issues with refrigeration and HVAC control systems; repair self-contained cases and rooftop HVAC units of all types; and demonstrate knowledge of secondary glycol racked systems and conventional DX racked systems.
Work effectively with a team and assist other personnel to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Communicate with team members, supervisors, and customers; determine best practices for repair work and assess downtime with store personnel.
Create and maintain preventive maintenance records for serviced equipment and maintain truck inventory.
Provide service to internal and external customers while meeting Wegmans’ quality, food safety, and human safety standards.
