Commercial Ops Specialist - Houston Sales & Marketing

Zipline•Houston, TX
•$70,000 - $85,000•Onsite

About The Position

Zipline is hiring a Commercial Ops Specialist to support its Houston commercial team as it builds its delivery network. The role runs the commercial operating cadence, coordinates the handoff from signed merchant through launch, and manages priority projects assigned by commercial leadership. It owns the tools, trackers, meetings, and follow-up that connect Field Sales and Partner Success, while supporting—but not owning—prospecting, closing, or ongoing partner relationships. The role maintains CRM and onboarding data, prepares pipeline and launch-readiness updates, tracks actions and blockers, and coordinates merchant events and field activities. It also creates project plans, documents workflows and decisions, coordinates cross-functional stakeholders, and drives assigned initiatives through completion. In-person support for Houston events, field activities, and launches may be needed. The successful candidate is organized, resourceful, action-oriented, and comfortable shifting between strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a fast-moving environment. The starting cash range is approximately $70,000–$85,000. Total compensation may also include equity, overtime pay, discretionary annual or performance bonuses, sales incentives, and benefits such as medical, dental, and vision insurance and paid time off.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in sales operations, revenue operations, project management, business operations, customer success operations, or a similar cross-functional role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders, deadlines, and changing priorities.
  • Strong project management skills, including turning ambiguous requests into clear plans, owners, milestones, and next steps.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with judgment to keep different audiences informed without unnecessary noise.
  • High attention to detail and a strong bias toward action, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Comfort working with CRM data, spreadsheets, dashboards, and process documentation.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify patterns, and translate findings into practical recommendations.
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where priorities may shift as the Houston market develops.
  • Ability to work regularly with the Houston team and provide in-person support when business needs require it.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting field sales, account management, partner success, or a local market launch.
  • Experience working with restaurants, retailers, SMBs, marketplace businesses, logistics, or last-mile delivery.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot, Google Sheets or Excel, and project-management platforms.
  • Experience building dashboards, reporting cadences, playbooks, or standard operating procedures.
  • Experience in an early-stage, high-growth, or operationally complex environment.

Responsibilities

  • Run the Houston commercial operating cadence and maintain the tools, trackers, meetings, and follow-up connecting Field Sales and Partner Success.
  • Ensure every signed merchant has a clear internal owner, next step, and visible path from agreement through activation.
  • Provide commercial leadership with concise updates on progress, risks, decisions needed, and upcoming milestones.
  • Deliver assigned special projects with a defined scope, timeline, owners, dependencies, and documented outcome.
  • Surface blockers early, recommend practical paths forward, and drive follow-up until issues are resolved or handed to a clear owner.
  • Maintain territory and lead lists; support lead routing and pipeline hygiene; prepare pipeline reviews; coordinate sales materials and merchant events; and track follow-up actions.
  • Own the onboarding and launch-readiness tracker, document owners and next steps, coordinate internal handoffs after signing, and escalate blockers that could delay activation.
  • Document workflows and standard operating procedures, identify friction in the sales-to-launch lifecycle, clarify ownership, and implement practical improvements with affected teams.
  • Turn assigned initiatives into project plans with scope, milestones, owners, dependencies, and risks; provide regular status updates, run working sessions, and follow through to completion.
  • Own selected high-priority initiatives from commercial leadership, especially cross-team work or initiatives needing short-term ownership.
  • Coordinate decisions and dependencies with Operations, Marketing, Product, and other teams; document decisions and ensure each action has an owner.
  • Provide on-site coordination for Houston merchant events, field activities, and launches when in-person support is needed.
