Commercial Insurance Account Manager - Transportation / Trucking
About The Position
This role involves managing an assigned book of commercial transportation and trucking insurance business, focusing on account retention and supporting new business acquisition. The Account Manager will coordinate daily administrative and customer service activities, resolve complex issues, and ensure accuracy in all transactions. The position requires maintaining technical competence, industry expertise, and directing the activities of the account management team. Key responsibilities include handling customer service requests, policy administration, billing, claims, coverage analysis, managing policy expirations and renewals, monitoring accounts receivable, maintaining agency management systems, and ensuring timely completion of activities. The role emphasizes delivering excellent service, proactive client support, and adherence to company policies and values.
Requirements
- Active P&C license
- Commercial transportation/trucking experience
- 3+ years of account management experience, or 5+ years in the insurance industry
- Thorough knowledge of insurance brokerage and client needs
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Exceptional customer service, communication, multitasking, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned book of business, ensuring account retention and supporting new business.

- Conduct client research, prepare submissions, negotiate coverages, and present proposals.
- Monitor reports and take action on delinquent accounts, collecting outstanding balances.
- Maintain agency management systems and carrier/vendor platforms, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor and maintain activity/suspense to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain frequent, transparent communication with the account team regarding workload status and any issues.
- Deliver excellent service, proactively anticipate needs, and respond quickly to service requests.
- Stay updated on company policies and procedures.
- Seek and adopt best practices to improve individual and team performance.
