The Commercial Fence Installer is a heavy travel position responsible for installing and repairing a variety of commercial and industrial fencing systems, including chain link, ornamental, security, and specialty barriers. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting site plans, measuring and marking layout lines, digging post holes, setting posts, mixing and pouring concrete, and assembling panels, gates, and hardware to company and client specifications. The role involves operating hand and power tools, loading and unloading materials, maintaining a clean and safe job site, and collaborating with crew members and supervisors to meet project timelines. The installer also interacts with clients and site representatives in a professional manner, ensuring quality workmanship that reflects the company’s values and standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings, site plans, and measurements, with solid math skills for layout and leveling.
  • Experience using hand and power tools (e.g., post hole diggers, saws, drills, concrete mixers) and working safely with construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of commercial and industrial fence types, materials, and installation methods, or a strong willingness to learn on the job.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials, working outdoors in varied weather, and standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites; ability to travel regionally is a prerequisite.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating compact heavy equipment like skid steers, bobcats, hydraulic augers, and mini-excavators is a big plus.
  • Previous experience in construction, fencing, landscaping, or a related trade is preferred but not required; on-the-job training may be provided.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is beneficial, along with a commitment to living the company’s values and growing with the organization.
