Commercial & Industrial Solar Design Engineer

Solar Energy Solutions•Ashland, VA

About The Position

The Commercial & Industrial Solar Engineer supports the design, engineering, and development of commercial and industrial solar energy projects. The role works with project management, sales, construction, and operations teams to develop technically sound, cost-effective solar solutions that meet customer requirements, applicable codes, and project specifications. The position covers solar photovoltaic system design, site and electrical infrastructure evaluation, system sizing, energy production estimates, equipment selection, engineering documentation, and performance calculations. It also supports project feasibility assessments, proposals, budgets, cost estimates, permitting, utility applications, inspections, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and project closeout. The engineer reviews designs and technical documents for accuracy, compliance, design conflicts, and constructability concerns, and provides technical guidance to internal teams and project stakeholders. The role may involve office-based engineering work, collaboration with field teams, and occasional visits to project sites, warehouses, or customer facilities. Site visits may require personal protective equipment and compliance with company safety procedures.
