About The Position

The Commercial Solar Estimator will manage multifamily housing and commercial solar projects throughout California, with project sizes ranging from 20 kW to 1 MW. Working with internal and external stakeholders, the estimator completes solar and storage estimates, prepares budgets and proposals, and manages a large project pipeline with organization and efficiency. The role is based in Sacramento and involves minimal travel.

Requirements

• High school diploma; a college degree or some college experience is preferable.
• Three years of solar or electrical experience.
• Experience with HelioScope and Energy Toolbase.
• Experience estimating construction or architectural products.
• Experience reading construction drawings and specifications; demonstrated aptitude may be considered in lieu of experience.
• Experience with retrofit PV projects.
• Experience with solar design and current building codes.
• Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Complete detailed, itemized solar material quantity estimates from owner- or contractor-furnished plan sets.
• Determine the appropriate solar system type, interconnection type, and system sizing.
• Prepare quotations and proposals from architectural drawings.
• Perform filing and job-folder clerical duties.
• Read construction blueprints, drawings, plans, and specifications and prepare estimates.
• Generate preliminary and final project budgets based on bid proposals and project details.
• Ensure estimates are thorough and help facilitate ease of construction for field operations.
• Maintain and track bid schedules.
