About The Position

The Commercial Estimator estimates type 3 and type 5 construction for wood-frame, multi-story buildings. The role meets with contractors and their customers to assist with estimating and completes plans within time frames agreed upon with clients. Estimators are expected to be detail-oriented and patient, with experience estimating manually or using approved software. The position also assists with store operations as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• Ability to use discretion and independent judgment.
• Ability to review architectural drawings and estimate the costs of wood materials and labor needed to complete a job.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, technical procedures, and/or government regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Experience estimating manually or with approved software.
• Word processing software skills.
• Inventory software skills.
• Spreadsheet software skills.

Responsibilities

• Create material lists for installed-sales purposes.
• Work with material usage in addition to estimating.
• Create scopes of work for subcontracted labor.
• Read plans and create estimates.
• Meet with customers and make changes as needed.
• Perform store duties as assigned.
