About The Position

Great Lakes Service is seeking experienced Commercial HVAC/R Service Technicians to serve customers in Chicago and the surrounding areas. Technicians install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment at customer locations, while providing prompt service and meeting customer expectations. The role includes maintaining a service vehicle, ordering parts, identifying opportunities with current and prospective customers, and participating in after-hours and weekend on-call schedules. Technicians may lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds frequently with assistance and lifting equipment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with swing shifts available. The company operates 24/7, and on-call hours are required. Pay is $25.00 to $50.00+ per hour based on experience; qualifying technicians may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000.

Requirements

At least three years of prior experience in commercial kitchen repair or equivalent military technical roles.
Electrical, electronic, and mechanical skills.
Excellent customer communication skills.
Successful completion of a drug screen and criminal background screening.
At least 18 years of age.
Driving record that aligns with the company's safety standards.
EPA Universal Certification.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
Provide excellent customer service and meet customer expectations on every service call.
Complete service calls promptly.
Identify new customers and opportunities within existing accounts.
Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call schedules.
Maintain the service vehicle and order necessary parts.
Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds frequently with assistance and lifting equipment.
