About The Position

ScreenRant is seeking an experienced and passionate Comics Content Writer to create original, high-quality content in a timely manner. This is a paid freelance remote position with a flexible schedule. The writer will produce articles in ScreenRant's house style after completing the required training and peer mentorship period. Work includes fact-checking, formatting, linking, sourcing images, and basic image editing. Writers may also pitch story ideas when none are provided and are expected to communicate actively with the editorial team and apply its feedback.

The role calls for a strong interest in comics, particularly DC and Marvel publications, excellent English writing skills, relevant writing or editing experience, and familiarity with digital publishing and content tools. Contributors must follow Valnet's Editorial Standards, including its prohibition on using artificial intelligence.

Requirements

• Passion for the content and a drive to grow within the industry.
• Deep knowledge of comics, especially major publications such as DC and Marvel, including current comics and major events or series from the past.
• Ability to learn quickly and a strong sense of urgency.
• Excellent command of the English language.
• Ability to write articles free of typos and grammatical errors.
• Comfort working in an entirely virtual environment.
• Understanding of the difference between news and features.
• Relevant experience in writing and/or editing roles, such as digital publications or entertainment content.
• Familiarity with WordPress.
• Knowledge of SEO.
• Familiarity with analytics, including Google Analytics.

Responsibilities

• Write articles in ScreenRant's house style, following the required training and peer mentorship period.
• Fact-check, format, and link articles.
• Source images and perform basic image editing, such as adjusting size and brightness.
• Pitch story ideas when none are readily available.
• Accept and apply feedback from the editorial team.
• Communicate openly and actively with the editorial team.
• Adhere to Valnet's Editorial Standards, including the prohibition on using artificial intelligence.
