About The Position

Marriott Vacations Worldwide offers a comprehensive internship program at one of our stunning resort locations, available in 3- or 6-month durations. The program is built around gaining in-person, on-site work experience within a designated department, receiving personalized guidance from experienced property leaders, participating in exclusive sessions with senior company executives, shadowing different departments, conducting interviews with senior leaders, collaborating on a meaningful project, joining interactive online sessions, and connecting with fellow interns. This internship is located in Palm Desert, CA and is fully on-site.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • This is a fully on-site internship at one of the designated Marriott Vacations Worldwide resort locations.
  • Candidates must be actively pursuing a college degree at any level.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required, depending on scope of role.
  • Interns must be able to reach overhead and below knee level, and perform physical activities such as bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Interns must also be capable of standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
  • The ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Students majoring in Hospitality or Business Management are preferred, but applicants from other academic disciplines are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Develops skills in critical components of resort operations, providing a strong foundation for a successful career in hospitality.
  • Learns the essentials of villa cleaning and performs core tasks that ensure guest accommodations are clean, comfortable, and up to brand standards.
  • Learns about the roles and responsibilities of other housekeeping roles.
  • Observes and leads room inspections.
  • Observes and learns key components of inventory control and supply ordering.
  • Understands the importance of collaboration with other departments in preparing for guest arrivals.
  • Rotates through various food outlets based on property size and offerings (e.g., pool bar, marketplace, etc.).
  • Gains experience in both front and back of house operations.
  • Learns key roles such as: Server, Food prep/Cook, Expeditor, Bar Staff.
  • Observes and learns key components of inventory control, placing orders and handling alcohol responsibly.
  • Partnership with Recreation team for themed events, holidays, and property celebrations.
  • Promotes fun resort activities and facilities to guests of all ages.
  • Leads and supports activities like trivia, pool games, outdoor fun, and educational programs.
  • Helps with setup and execution of special events such as food tastings and local storytelling.
  • Understands the importance of interacting directly with guests to create fun and memorable experiences.
  • Learns how to plan and organize daily and special activities.
  • Observes and supports areas like health and fitness, childcare, and team leadership.
