About The Position

The Collections Assistant works with borrowers to collect debts owed to Alpine Bank in a variety of streams. This role is responsible for collecting on Consumer Loans, Credit Cards, Ready Reserve Lines of Credit, and Demand Deposit Accounts (DDAs). The position also processes garnishments and levies, summons and subpoenas, domestic collections, and maintains the Overdraft Privilege product. The Collections Assistant serves as a point of contact for customers, handling phone calls, preparing and mailing correspondence, inputting account notes, and researching credit disputes. They also process legal notices by gathering and responding to requested documents, verifying information, and sending funds for domestic collections. Maintaining the Overdraft Privilege product involves understanding and complying with Regulation E, ensuring correct account codes, and performing necessary maintenance. Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required.

Requirements

  • Ability to make customers and their needs a primary focus of one’s actions; developing and sustaining productive customer relationships.
  • Strong detail orientation and multi-tasking skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent required.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid Colorado Driver’s License is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Silverlake is helpful.
  • Experience in collections and/or bookkeeping is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting on Consumer Loans, Credit Cards, Ready Reserve Lines of Credit, and Demand Deposit Accounts (DDAs).
  • Processing garnishments and levies, summons and subpoenas, domestic collections.
  • Maintaining the Overdraft Privilege product.
  • Serving as a point of contact for customers, making and answering phone calls.
  • Preparing and mailing out letters.
  • Inputting notes and messages on accounts.
  • Researching credit disputes for Consumer Loans, Credit Cards, Ready Reserve Lines of Credit and DDAs.
  • Processing legal notices by researching and gathering requested documents then answering accordingly.
  • Verifying information and sending requested funds either by check or wire transfer for Domestic collections.
  • Understanding and complying with Regulation E for the Overdraft Privilege product.
  • Ensuring all accounts have the correct code for the Overdraft Privilege product.
  • Completing maintenance for the Overdraft Privilege product.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
