Collections Graduate Assistant
About The Position
Working in the Research, Technology, and Collections Department, the Graduate Assistant will participate in Collections Unit operations related to acquisitions, collection development, copy cataloging, and electronic resources. The Graduate Assistant will develop and implement a collection maintenance projects with guidance and supervision from the Collection Development Librarian. This position is for one year, with a reevaluation period for continuation. This position will not exceed two years. The Graduate Assistant will be provided with a professional development opportunity each year. This position requires on-site work.
Requirements
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately with attention to detail
- Proven ability to take initiative, prioritize work to meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated excellence in customer services when interacting with faculty, staff, students, and community
- Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion through library collection stewardship
- Currently enrolled in a Master of Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) graduate program
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements collection projects, located within the circulating collection
- Assists in maintaining subscription information and assists in renewals
- Conducts data analysis in support of department-level report preparation as needed
- Receives new materials requested by faculty and liaisons
- Other duties as assigned
