About The Position

Berlin-Wheeler, Inc. is hiring a full-time Collection Agent in Topeka, Kansas. The role focuses on helping consumers and patients understand account balances, discuss payment options, and resolve accounts through respectful, service-oriented communication—not pressure tactics. The work also supports client organizations, many of which are healthcare providers, by helping them recover payments.

The position includes making and receiving calls, listening to each person's circumstances, explaining account status, and offering appropriate payment arrangements and resolution options. Agents accurately document accounts and follow established policies and procedures. Berlin-Wheeler provides paid training in systems, regulations, communication skills, and account resolution techniques, as well as ongoing compliance monitoring and coaching.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication.
• Ability to listen well and remain calm, patient, and respectful during difficult conversations.
• Comfort using a computer and phone system and learning new tools.
• Dependability, empathy, willingness to learn, and attention to rules, processes, and details.

Nice To Haves

• Collections experience is preferred but not required.
• Customer service experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Make and receive calls with consumers and patients, verify basic demographic information, and discuss account status.
• Listen to each person's situation and offer appropriate payment arrangements and resolution options.
• Convert conversations into payments through honest, respectful communication.
• Document every account accurately and follow established policies and procedures.

• Follow applicable federal, state, and client requirements in every interaction.
