About The Position

Ellucian is seeking a customer-facing Colleague Finance Functional Consultant to partner with colleges and universities. The consultant will use knowledge of Colleague Finance and higher education financial operations to help institutions address business challenges, implement functionality, streamline processes, and maximize the value of Ellucian solutions. The role involves understanding customer needs, troubleshooting issues, recommending solutions, and supporting technology transformation, including adoption of modern SaaS-based solutions. The consultant will work with customers and internal teams on process reviews, requirements gathering, configuration, testing, documentation, training, and project delivery. Candidates may bring experience from a university Finance Office or higher education technology consulting.

Requirements

At least 3 years of relevant experience in a higher education Finance Office, financial systems environment, or higher education functional consulting role.
Hands-on experience with Ellucian Colleague Finance and understanding of its functionality and common business processes.
Working knowledge of higher education financial operations, such as general ledger, accounts payable, purchasing, budgeting, financial reporting, or related business office functions.
Familiarity with higher education business processes and how financial systems support institutional operations.
Experience troubleshooting functional system issues, evaluating business processes, and recommending practical solutions.
Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into functional recommendations or system improvements.
Experience supporting system testing, upgrades, enhancements, or configuration changes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with customers, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
Ability to manage assigned tasks and projects, prioritize competing needs, and meet established deadlines.
Customer-focused mindset and interest in learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Colleague Student Finance (Student Accounts Receivable) and understanding of its integration or touchpoints with Colleague Finance.
Experience supporting Colleague Finance implementations, enhancements, or optimization projects.
Experience participating in business process improvement initiatives within a college or university.
Exposure to SaaS environments, cloud-based solutions, or higher education technology modernization initiatives.
Previous experience providing functional consulting, customer support, or training to higher education institutions.

Responsibilities

Provide functional consulting and support to higher education customers using Ellucian Colleague Finance.
Understand customer business needs, evaluate financial processes, and recommend improvements to efficiency and system utilization.
Assist with implementation of new functionality, solution configuration, and optimization of existing Colleague Finance processes.
Troubleshoot functional issues in Colleague Finance and collaborate with customers and internal teams to implement solutions.
Support business process reviews, requirements gathering, and application prototyping sessions.
Translate customer business requirements into functional specifications for reporting, interfaces, enhancements, and customizations.
Develop and execute test plans and scripts for upgrades, patches, enhancements, and configuration changes.
Work with customers to validate system updates and modifications against their business requirements.
Create documentation for business processes, functional requirements, testing procedures, and user guidance.
Support customer training by developing materials and delivering functional knowledge-sharing sessions when appropriate.
Partner with consultants and internal teams to complete projects within established timelines and scope.
Build customer relationships through responsive support, practical recommendations, and a positive consulting experience.
Support customers adopting new capabilities and transitioning toward modern SaaS-based solutions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
