About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a customer-focused Barista to prepare beverages, maintain coffee shop products and cleanliness, and help customers have a positive experience. The role involves working in a fast-paced store coffee shop, serving customers at the counter and over the phone, and supporting the team and other store areas as needed. No prior experience is required; training and support are provided. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Able to communicate clearly and helpfully with customers and teammates.
Able to stay organized and keep pace in a busy coffee shop environment.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide helpful, friendly service.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare coffee shop products and replenish them as needed throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance, and follow or develop production lists to meet daily needs.
Handle food safely and keep the work area clean, neat, and up to department standards.
Receive products, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
