About The Position

As a Barista at Hy-Vee, you will provide friendly customer service, prepare beverages, keep the coffee shop stocked and clean, and help ensure customers have a positive experience. The role involves working in a fast-paced store coffee shop environment, assisting customers with product questions, and supporting the team and other store areas as needed. Training and support are provided; prior experience is not required.

Requirements

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear, friendly communication with customers and teammates.
Ability to stay organized and keep up with a busy coffee shop environment.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Up to six months of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and provide outstanding service, including learning customers’ names and going the extra mile to make visits positive.
Take customer orders at the counter and over the phone, help customers find products, and answer questions.
Prepare and replenish coffee shop products throughout the shift.
Monitor product freshness and appearance and follow or develop a production list to meet daily needs.
Handle food safely and maintain a clean, neat work area that meets department standards.
Check in products, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Operate the department register and process payments where applicable.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
Work with teammates to provide a smooth, positive customer experience.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and company policies.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
