About The Position

IRD, LLC, a company related to Krauth Electric Company, manufactures industrial test equipment used in the rotating apparatus industry, specifically the IRD Balancing equipment and the Lexseco Core Lost Testers. IRD has been in the global market since the early 1950's. IRD's Louisville, Kentucky facility is the headquarters for its global manufacture and operations. This position involves the manufacture, fabrication, assembly and testing of mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies for all lines of IRD equipment. The ideal candidate will be willing to work either first or second shift, be able to read mechanical drawings and assemble accordingly, and have industrial assembly experience. The role offers a comfortable working environment with air conditioning and a 4-day work week (10-hour days, Friday off).

Requirements

Willingness to work either first or second shift.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and assemble accordingly.
Industrial assembly experience.
High School or G.E.D.
One to three months related experience and/or training preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Fusion 360 preferred.
Haas and Mazak experience a plus.
Industrial machining experience helpful.
Experience in the practical use of calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, telescope gauges, scales, and dial indicators is helpful but not required until after hire.

Responsibilities

Learning and performing the manufacture and assembly of any IRD parts and products including balancing equipment, core loss testers, etc. by doing setup, adjustments and operation of milling and turning centers.
Maintaining close tolerances and finish dimensions during operations.
Reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, mechanical drawings, set up sheets or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece.
Properly operating measuring tools including: calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, telescope gauges, scales, protractors, dial indicators and other measuring devices.
Properly reading blue prints, work orders, engineering routes, product drawings and set up sheets.
Setting up machining equipment, changing tools and fixtures, tooling, etc., necessary to make setups.
Receiving instructions from supervisor, blueprints, engineering routes, product drawings and setup sheets.
Checking and recording dimensions as required.
Filling out QC sheets.
Checking work with scales, gages, micrometers, protractors, calipers and other measuring instruments as required.
Verifying conformance of finished product to specifications.
Checking dimensions to tolerances from .005” to .002”.
Setting up and operating machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
Assisting and cross training into other areas of the mechanical shop as is necessary to maintain production levels.
Responsible for cleanliness of work area and organization of tools and equipment.
Assisting in routine maintenance of facilities.
Performing other duties as assigned.
