POSITION SUMMARY: CNC Machinist will Sets up a variety of CNC machines utilizing knowledge of machines, tooling, materials and programs. Troubleshoots and operates numerical control machines or machining centers to perform various functions, such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces, utilizing knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, and shop math. Able to do all setup, editing, offsetting and troubleshooting with no assistance from supervisor. Our work schedule for this position is 6:30AM to 3:00 PM PAY: $29.00-$40.00 DOE

Requirements

  • 5 + years' experience
  • Independently setup and run a group of machines efficiently
  • Trouble shooting experience Required
  • Able to read and use Inspection Tools
  • Micrometers, Calipers, Comparators, Surface plate, bore gages, thread gage.
  • To conform to U.S. export control regulations, requirements of this position include being eligible to work with export-controlled products and related data without restriction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating the following machines is desirable: Mori Seiki Duraturn 2550, Mori Seiki Duraverticle 5060, Mori Seiki NLX 3000, Mori Seiki SL4, Samsung SL40, Samsung SL2500SY, Samsung SL2000, Haas VF-2 & VF-4, Fanuc Controls

Responsibilities

  • Setup all cell machines, establish efficient tool strings, and efficiently manage production.
  • Troubleshoots jobs in progress on machine when problems such as tool life, tolerance problems, finish problems and program problems occur.
  • Edits and adjusts program at machine if needed and approved. Saves adjusted program into CAD/CAM memory at end of run.
  • Fills out Setup/Program sheet and maintains CNC file by part number.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.
  • Mounts, aligns, and secures tooling, attachments, and work piece on machine.
  • Selects and installs cutting tools in machine spindle.
  • Loads programs in machine controller or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from data base.
  • Calculates and sets machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed and coolant flow.
  • Starts machine and monitors displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stops machine to change cutting tools and setup according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Enters commands or manually adjusts machine controls to correct malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
  • Showing up on time and staying full shift to ensure set-up efficiency and to stay on schedule
  • Operates machine manually to perform non-automated functions and when automatic programing is faulty or machine malfunctions.
  • Discusses control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
  • Cleans machine, tooling, and parts.
  • Performs machine maintenance.
  • Communicates with co workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
  • Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
