About The Position

A well-established, industry-leading manufacturer is seeking experienced CNC Setup Machinists for its second-shift team. This role is suited to machinists who enjoy challenging setups, complex components, tight tolerances, and taking ownership of their work. The position involves independently setting up machines, selecting tooling, establishing offsets, proving out programs, and troubleshooting machining challenges. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM. Initial training takes place on first shift, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Overtime is available and generally voluntary. Starting pay is $35.86–$37.06 per hour, plus a second-shift differential. The employer offers union wages, benefits, job stability, and long-term career opportunities.

Requirements

3–5+ years of CNC machining experience.
Strong hands-on CNC setup experience with mills and/or lathes.
Ability to independently read blueprints and work to tight tolerances.
Experience selecting tooling, setting offsets, and proving out setups.
Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

Nice To Haves

CNC programming or machine-side editing experience.

Responsibilities

Independently set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and machining centers.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and setup instructions.
Select tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
Establish tool offsets, work offsets, and machine reference points.
Perform program prove-outs, first-piece inspections, and in-process quality checks.
Machine complex components to tight engineering tolerances.
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.
Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and precision gauges.
Make machine-side adjustments to maintain quality and production efficiency.
