About The Position

Craig Technologies is seeking a talented and experienced 5-Axis CNC Machinist to join our Manufacturing team in Houston, TX. This position will directly support the high-precision production and manufacturing of critical flight aerospace components in support of our commercial Lunar program. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between digital CAM programming and hands-on precision machining to deliver flight-ready hardware from advanced space-grade materials.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent vocational trade certification required.
  • 4-6 years of direct experience setting up, programming, and operating 5-axis CNC Mills.
  • Proficiency utilizing 3D CAD/CAM software for component modeling, toolpath generation, and assembly management.
  • Clear, expert-level understanding of raw G and M code scripting and manipulation.
  • Direct experience machining aerospace-grade composites, carbon fibers, or complex flight structures.
  • Familiarity with commonly used aerospace and commercial specifications for flight materials, processing, fasteners, and mechanical tolerances.
  • Solid understanding of workshop health and safety regulations to minimize the risk of workplace accidents.
  • Proficiency using basic digital shop tracking tools and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills to develop effective manufacturing plans and adjust parameters mid-run.
  • Ability and willingness to work efficiently under compressed, aggressive flight hardware delivery schedules.
  • Excellent teamwork mindset with an eagerness to work in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary, and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills with an excellent, safety-first organizational mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating Haas, Okuma OSP, or Heidenhain controls is a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard practices for manufacturing parts from high-strength aerospace alloys, including Aluminum, Titanium, and High Nickel alloys (e.g., Inconel).
  • Familiarity with automated part-loading setups (pallet changers, robotic arms), additive manufacturing, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), or Zeiss CMM inspection.
  • Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze engineering specification charts, material samples, and complex manufacturing drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements and strict Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Create, optimize, and maintain multi-axis machining programs using specialized CAM software.
  • Collaborate closely with design and manufacturing engineers to communicate material needs, structural manufacturability, and production timelines.
  • Develop step-by-step action plans to safely manufacture complex, high-tolerance parts according to engineering specifications.
  • Prepare, inspect, and mark raw stock and aerospace materials needed to initiate manufacturing runs.
  • Set up, calibrate, and align precision tooling and 5-axis milling equipment required for each step of the manufacturing plan.
  • Operate advanced machinery to execute cuts, monitor the active production process, and immediately intervene to troubleshoot issues when anomalies arise.
  • Inspect finished flight parts for flaws, tool marks, and defects using precision measurement instruments.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and calibration on equipment located throughout the machine shop.
  • Other duties as assigned.
