About The Position
The CNC (5 Axis) Programmer/Machinist interprets technical drawings and sets up metalworking processes, including workholding fixtures, process steps, equipment, and tooling. The role writes and proves out programs for 2- and 3- to 5-axis machines using Mastercam, and operates CNC machinery in accordance with quality standards. The position is 100% onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida, and works Monday through Friday on the day shift. Overtime may be required, and travel is less than 10%.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three years of experience in 5-axis (3+2-axis) CNC programming and machining using Mastercam software.
- Complete working knowledge of GD&T (ANSI Y14.5).
- Proficiency in reading and understanding part manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with Mazak and Haas machining centers.
- Ability to read CAD models and 2-D prints and update paperwork neatly, accurately, and in an organized manner.
- Troubleshooting skills and the ability to think critically.
- Ability to work independently and productively within a team environment.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with tight deadlines.
- Ability to work with and provide feedback to departments and customers within the shop and externally.
- Ability to travel less than 10%.

- Must meet ITAR eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
- Selected candidates are subject to a background investigation and drug screen.
Nice To Haves
- Applicants with at least 10 years of experience may be considered for a Senior-level role.
- Experience programming several other CNC milling centers and controls, including Fanuc, Mazatrol, or Heidenhain.
- Mastery of high-speed machining and toolpath optimization.
Responsibilities
- Interpret technical drawings and set up metalworking processes, workholding fixtures, process steps, equipment, and tooling.
- Write programs for 2- and 3- to 5-axis machines using Mastercam.
- Set up and prove out processes on 5-axis CNC Mazak and Haas machines.
- Operate machines manually for non-automated functions or when automatic programming is faulty or a machine malfunctions.
- Fabricate dies, jigs, and fixtures for workpiece orientation or workholding as needed.
- Monitor CNC processes and implement proactive solutions to improve processes, line flow, quality, and efficiency.
- Develop machine setups and program edits, and work with tolerances to +/- .0001 inches.
- Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and other inspection equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
