About The Position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to residents in assisted living during scheduled work periods. Under the supervision of a charge nurse, the NA provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance, following each resident’s care or service plan and addressing their physical and psychological needs. The position is part time, scheduled for two 8-hour day shifts per week, generally 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role includes every other weekend and rotating holidays. Sanford offers paid training to obtain Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification; however, the qualifications also list state CNA certification as required. The NA assists with personal care, meals, mobility, documentation, wellness activities, and other resident needs. Depending on the location and scope of practice, responsibilities may include helping with procedures, collecting non-invasive specimens, administering delegated medications, and housekeeping or laundry. The NA communicates changes in resident condition and care concerns to the charge nurse and follows infection prevention and personal protective equipment policies. The department provides care around the clock, and shift assignments may vary according to staffing and resident census.
