CNA Hospice Aide
About The Position
The CNA Hospice Aide provides compassionate, hands-on care to hospice patients and support to their families during end-of-life care. The role assists patients with activities of daily living while promoting comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being. Working with the hospice care team, the aide provides respectful, individualized care in accordance with the patient’s care plan and written instructions prepared by a registered nurse. The position includes personal and supportive care, assistance with meals and prescribed exercises, homemaking and environmental services, and observing, reporting, and documenting changes in a patient’s status. The aide must report to the primary nurse if unable to perform an assigned task. The role also performs and records simple urine tests as assigned.
Requirements
- Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant (CNA), in accordance with state requirements.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

- CNA experience within the last two years.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services to patients.
- Use safety principles and proper body mechanics when assisting with ambulation, transfers, range of motion, positioning, and household chores.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, as assigned.
- Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
- Observe, report, and document changes in a patient’s status; report to the primary nurse if unable to perform a task.
- Follow written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, received before services are delivered.
- Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
- Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
