CNA/CMA - Pediatric Complex Medical Care (PRN)
About The Position
Join Child Serve as a PRN CNA or Certified Medication Aide (CMA) in its Pediatric Inpatient Complex Medical program. The program provides around-the-clock care in a warm, family-centered environment for individuals from infancy through age 14 who cannot live at home because of complex medical needs. The role supports children in thriving in a safe and caring setting. The schedule includes PRN day, night, or weekend shifts from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Child Serve partners with families to help children with special healthcare needs live a great life and provides pediatric services across complex medical care, pediatric rehabilitation, autism and behavioral health, and community-based services.
Requirements
- Active Iowa DIA certification as a nursing assistant.
- Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 90 days and before working independently.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, move around the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily care routines, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility, while honoring each child’s privacy and dignity.
- Follow individualized care plans and collaborate with nurses and therapists to meet each child’s needs.
- Maintain children’s cleanliness and comfort and help them get ready for scheduled activities.
- Support families by sharing updates and reinforcing care techniques that promote each child’s progress and well-being.
- Accurately document care provided and comply with Child Serve policies and professional standards.
