About The Position

CompassionCare Hospice is seeking a dedicated Hospice CNA to provide dignity, comfort, and support to patients and families in Carson City and surrounding areas. The role is based out of the Carson City office and involves providing individualized care in patients’ homes. CNAs work independently with support from the hospice team and contribute to patient comfort during end-of-life care.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The position offers 1:1 patient care, flexible scheduling options, and opportunities for advancement. CompassionCare Hospice provides a broad range of hospice services tailored to the individual needs of patients and families.

Requirements

• Meet the training requirements of the state of practice.
• At least six months of experience, including providing personal care.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Complete at least 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training; 16 classroom hours must be completed before the required 16 hours of practical training.
• Possess and maintain current CPR certification.
• Be able to read and follow written instructions and document care provided.
• Understand hospice philosophy and be comfortable providing specialized care to terminally ill patients.
• Be able to work with little direct supervision.
• Be able to handle death and dying.
• Have strong oral and written communication skills.
• Have good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Help patients with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and repositioning.
• Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, and safe equipment use.
• Assist with self-administered medications in accordance with state regulations.
• Provide companionship and emotional comfort to patients and families.
• Change linens, assist with meals, and maintain a clean space.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team.
