About The Position

Haven Hospice is seeking a dedicated Hospice CNA to provide compassionate care to patients in the Gainesville, Florida coverage area, including Gainesville Haven Care Center. The role supports patients and families through personal care, companionship, and comfort, while helping preserve patient dignity. CNAs work independently with team support and collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team.

The position is full-time, scheduled for three 12-hour day shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with alternating weekends and holidays. The position is subject to a Level 2 background screening.

Requirements

• Meet the training requirements of the state of practice.
• At least six months of experience, including providing personal care.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Complete at least 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training; 16 classroom hours must be completed before the required 16 hours of practical training.
• Maintain current CPR certification in states where required.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care provided.
• Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort providing specialized care to terminally ill patients.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision.
• Ability to handle death and dying.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Help patients with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and repositioning.
• Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, and safe equipment use.
• Help patients with self-administered medications in accordance with state regulations.
• Provide companionship and emotional comfort to patients and families.
• Change linens, assist with meals, and maintain a clean space.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care.
• Collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team.
