About The Position

The Club Director leads all aspects of operations at the designated Club location, including staff supervision and development, program delivery, and budget management. This role ensures accurate data and recordkeeping, builds partnerships with families and community organizations, and supports members and families while maintaining a safe, compliant, and welcoming Club environment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of three years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Group leadership skills, including and understanding of group dynamics.
  • Previous proven success with organizational, staff and project management
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and activities and the ability to make suggestions for improvements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with different groups.
  • Successful supervisory experience (recruit, interview, train, empower, coach, motivate)
  • Previous experience managing a similar facility within budget. Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.
  • Ability to establish and effective working relationships with community and business leaders.
  • Ability to deal effectively with Club member discipline issues and communicate effectively with parents.
  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay; and the principles and practices of a non-profit organization.
  • Valid driver’s license and approved to drive by our insurance carrier (minimum age 21).
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Active Director’s Credentials through the State of Florida or be able to achieve within 6 months of employment
  • Valid Florida state driver’s license: must be eligible to drive Club vehicles per our insurance & have a CDL (or be able to obtain within 6 months).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field like Human Services, Education, Recreation or Social Work is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises 3-15 employees at the designated Club location; responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable state laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Manages performance of assigned staff in achieving goals, provides technical assistance in program design, development, community relations and program operations.
  • Conducts performance appraisals, including rewarding, coaching, and corrective action plans as needed for employees.
  • Plans and implements a staff development and training program.
  • Oversee the implementation and delivery of all day-to-day operations, programs, services, and activities that facilitate achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Oversees the identification and evaluation of opportunities to improve program effectiveness based on participation and achievement of stated goals; recommends modifications to improve program performance, as appropriate.
  • Oversees the growth strategy for average daily attendance and overall membership.
  • Coordinates agency budget development; monitors and report variances in revenues and expenditure.
  • Ensuring grant funded programs are executed on time and budgets.
  • Manages administrative and operational processes.
  • Oversee proper record keeping for the program department.
  • Maintains accurate and complete program outcomes and maintains that data for grant reporting and marketing purposes.
  • Oversee member management system and ensures accurate data & financial entries.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, members, parents, families, and community organizations.
  • Supports Board Committees, as assigned.
  • Participates in activities to maintain good public relations for Club programs, services, and activities.
  • Is an active member of the community who is the face of Boys & Girls Clubs.
  • Manages member behavior and parent related concerns; addresses complaints and resolves issues.
  • Assists with special events as needed.
  • Responsible for oversight of the daily food program to include but not limited to receiving, temperature documentation, meal distribution, and clean-up.
  • Ensure Acknowledgement for Child Care Centers, Child Abuse and Neglect reporting requirement for all Club staff.
