About The Position

We are looking for a Cloud & Solution Architect who thinks holistically in cloud, container, and solution architectures – from the initial idea through CI/CD, IT Service Management, and security to stable operation as a managed service or SaaS. In this role, you will translate our customers' business requirements into robust, automated, and secure architectures and support them from cloud migration to ongoing operations. You are enthusiastic about current technologies, cloud, container, and IT trends and possess a pragmatic, empirically agile mindset. You have several years of practical experience in a cloud or solution architect role, as well as in creating cloud and architecture documentation and concepts, ideally also in the context of ISO 27001. A strong DevOps or DevSecOps mentality with a focus on "Security by Design," automation, and clean processes is a given for you. You enjoy direct customer contact in workshops, reviews, and consulting situations and are willing to occasionally work on-site at the customer's premises. At the same time, you can work effectively in a team, take responsibility, and organize yourself independently. You are proficient in German and English at a business level (C1/C2) in speaking and writing for project work.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in planning, conception, and implementation of solutions in the cloud/container environment.
  • Very good knowledge of at least one major cloud platform, ideally AWS (other clouds like IONOS are a plus).
  • Proficient in Kubernetes (e.g., EKS/OpenShift), including introduction and operation of clusters, Helm/Charts, automation of deployments/updates, scaling, and monitoring.
  • Experience in creating concepts and architecture documentation, ideally with a security/compliance focus (e.g., ISO 27001).
  • Practical experience in the design and implementation of CI/CD infrastructures (e.g., GitLab CI, automated builds, tests, deployments, PoCs).
  • In-depth DevOps/DevSecOps experience (pipelines, automated tests/deployments, Security by Design, handling CVEs/security scans, operation in cloud and datacenter environments including updates, monitoring, logging).
  • Experience in IT Service Management according to ITIL (process design, integration of CI/CD into ITSM/ITIL processes, change management).
  • Experience in the design and introduction of Identity & Access Management (SSO via SAML/OIDC, role/permission models, identity lifecycle management).
  • Knowledge of programming languages and experience with Git and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible).
  • Good knowledge of modern networks and IT security (firewalls, IAM, network/security policies).
  • Familiarity with Linux-based operating systems, basic knowledge of Windows/Unix.
  • Strong consulting mindset with high customer and service orientation.
  • Experience in agile projects (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and collaboration in cross-functional teams.
  • Empirical-agile mindset (testing hypotheses, setting up PoCs, measuring, learning, iteratively improving).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills (structuring requirements, evaluating options, developing practical solutions).
  • Excellent communication skills and confident demeanor, including the ability to guide stakeholders through complex architectural decisions.
  • Leadership qualities in a project context.
  • Hands-on mentality (you conceptualize and also practically implement PoCs/solutions).
  • High self-organization and personal responsibility combined with teamwork.
  • German and English at business level (C1/C2) in speaking and writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with openDesk components (e.g., Univention/Nubus/UCS, Open-Xchange/OX Guard, Nextcloud).
  • Experience with Service Mesh (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
  • Experience with multi-tenant Kubernetes clusters in AWS/IONOS cloud, including backup, update, and scaling concepts, as well as connection of external resources (databases, messaging, email, storage).
  • Experience with multi-tenant/enterprise architectures.
  • Experience in developing Ansible playbooks for business process automation and integration into portals/self-service solutions.
  • Certifications, e.g.: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or comparable cloud certifications.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator or comparable Red Hat certifications (EX280, EX380, RHCOA).
  • ITIL certification.
  • Other relevant cloud/security/DevOps certifications.
  • Certifications in the agile environment (e.g., Scrum Master, Product Owner).
  • Experience in moderation, conflict resolution, and de-escalation.
  • Experience in training, didactics, and knowledge transfer (trainings, workshops, coaching).

Responsibilities

  • Design the technical foundations of our customers' solutions from architecture to operation.
  • Analyze business requirements and existing IT landscapes.
  • Develop target architectures for cloud and container platforms (e.g., AWS).
  • Take a leading role in cloud migration, including security, compliance, and integration concepts.
  • Design and operate CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI), automate builds, tests, and deployments.
  • Anchor DevOps/DevSecOps practices and integrate them into ITSM/ITIL processes.
  • Design and operate managed services and SaaS solutions, responsible for lifecycle management, monitoring, security, and documentation.
  • Develop services through automation, add-ons, and integrations.
  • Build and operate Kubernetes platforms (e.g., EKS, OpenShift), including scaling, monitoring, and release management.
  • Design Identity & Access Management (SSO, role models, provisioning) for connected applications.
  • Automate infrastructure and business processes with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible, Git).
  • Develop playbooks and self-service processes.
  • Collaborate on infrastructure and architecture artifacts.
  • Conduct architecture workshops and reviews with customers.
  • Create architecture and operational concepts.
  • Support migration and security topics.
  • Share knowledge in training sessions.
  • Continuously stay up-to-date with new technologies and methods.
