Position Summary The Cloud Solution Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-based solutions that support mission-critical federal systems. This role serves as the technical authority for cloud architecture, modernization initiatives, application migration strategies, DevSecOps integration, and enterprise platform design. The successful candidate will collaborate with program leadership, development teams, cybersecurity personnel, and stakeholders to ensure cloud solutions align with business objectives, federal compliance requirements, and industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in enterprise IT architecture, systems engineering, or cloud engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and implementing cloud solutions in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform environments.
  • Experience designing highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure cloud architectures.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, identity and access management (IAM), and infrastructure services.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture and federal cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal public trust or higher-level clearance.

  • Google Professional Cloud Architect certification.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • Experience supporting federal agencies and government modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and ATO processes.
  • Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, or Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, Kafka, or enterprise integration platforms.
  • Experience with AI/ML, analytics, or data platform modernization initiatives.
  • Experience leading technical teams and enterprise transformation efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain enterprise cloud architectures supporting mission-critical federal applications and services.
  • Develop cloud migration and modernization strategies for legacy applications and infrastructure.
  • Architect secure, scalable, and highly available solutions leveraging cloud-native services and platforms.
  • Lead solution design activities, including infrastructure, networking, identity management, security controls, and application integration.
  • Establish and maintain cloud governance, architecture standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevSecOps processes.
  • Design and oversee containerized and microservices-based architectures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal security requirements, including NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Support Authority to Operate (ATO) efforts and security accreditation activities.
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and provide recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Lead technical architecture reviews and provide guidance to development and operations teams.
  • Develop architecture documentation, technical roadmaps, system diagrams, and implementation plans.
  • Support proposal efforts, technical planning, and customer engagements as needed.
  • Mentor engineers and technical staff on cloud architecture principles and best practices.
