About The Position
Global InfoTek, Inc. (GITI) is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with cyber operations experience and backend development skills to support a General Services Administration (GSA) contract. The role supports research, development, installation, deployment, operation, maintenance, and continued evolution of cyber capabilities. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in virtualization, networking, and databases, along with curiosity, resourcefulness, critical-thinking skills, and a desire to learn and solve problems. The candidate may work independently and participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents. Collaboration, knowledge sharing, quality delivery, and a proactive approach are important. The engineer will design and develop cloud-based infrastructure, applications, and services; integrate mission-essential applications across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid platforms; and monitor and optimize systems for availability and cost-effectiveness. The role also involves implementing and auditing security controls, optimizing applications and data pipelines, and supporting DevSecOps and CI/CD practices. The engineer will communicate system issues proactively, research emerging technologies, and continually develop and share skills. The position is based in Reston, Virginia. Secret or higher security clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
Requirements
- Experience working as a Cloud Engineer, Computer Scientist, Software Developer, or in a related field.
- Working knowledge of cloud-computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience designing, developing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
- Ability to work effectively with a teleworking team and virtual access to development, test, and stable environments.
- Ability to optimize and load-balance backend infrastructure and applications supporting network-traffic ingestion and analysis.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to work independently or effectively in a team, and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities or requirements.
- Knowledge of cloud-security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with Agile delivery models such as SCRUM, Kanban, or SAFe, and a DevSecOps framework.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Secret or higher security clearance is required.
- Seven to ten years of experience.
- Bachelor's degree; experience may be considered in place of the education requirement.

- Working knowledge of cyber operations, cyber-defense strategies and tools, and malware.
- Working knowledge of networks, network-traffic data, and virtual environments.
- Experience with network-traffic inspection tools such as Suricata, Arkime, or Zeek.
- Knowledge of big-data technologies such as Elasticsearch, Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Cloud-engineering certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect – Associate; Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals; Google Associate Cloud Engineer; IBM Certified Technical Advocate - Cloud; CCSK; Professional Cloud Architect; Professional Cloud Developer; Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer; Professional Cloud Security Engineer; or CompTIA Cloud+.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop cloud-based infrastructure, applications, and services that meet requirements, including selecting cloud platforms, creating architecture diagrams, and developing automation scripts.
- Engineer and integrate new or upgraded mission-essential applications across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Monitor cloud-based system performance and optimize resources for cost-effectiveness and high availability.
- Resolve issues using strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Implement security measures such as encryption and access controls, and regularly audit cloud environments for compliance.
- Apply networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, and load balancing.
- Optimize applications and data-processing pipelines for efficient use of computing and storage resources.
- Support the evolution of DevSecOps processes and tools and ensure CI/CD processes are established and used for new or upgraded applications.
- Communicate system-related issues to technical leads proactively and effectively.
- Stay current on cloud-computing advancements and research opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Research and apply new tools, techniques, and solution approaches; continually improve skills through collaboration and available training.
