About The Position
Global InfoTek, Inc. is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with cyber operations experience and backend development skills to support a General Services Administration (GSA) contract. The role supports the research, development, installation, deployment, operation, maintenance, and continued evolution of cyber capabilities. The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in virtual technologies, networking, and databases, along with a desire to learn, grow, and solve problems. The candidate may work independently while participating in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents. Collaboration, knowledge sharing, quality delivery, and a proactive approach are important to the role. The position covers cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments. The Cloud Engineer designs and develops cloud infrastructure, applications, and services; integrates mission-essential applications; monitors and optimizes system performance and resources; applies security measures; and supports DevSecOps and CI/CD processes. The engineer also researches new technologies and approaches, communicates system issues to technical leads, and continually develops skills through collaboration and training.
Requirements
- Experience working as a Cloud Engineer, Computer Scientist, Software Developer, or in a related field.
- Working knowledge of cloud-computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience designing, developing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
- Ability to work effectively with a teleworking team and virtual access to development, test, and stable environments.
- Ability to optimize and load-balance backend infrastructure and applications supporting network-traffic ingestion and analysis.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work independently or effectively in a team and adapt quickly to changing priorities or requirements.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Agile delivery models such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe and a DevSecOps framework.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Secret or higher clearance is required.
- Seven to ten years of experience.
- Bachelor’s degree; experience may be considered in place of the education requirement.

- Master’s degree preferred.
- Working knowledge of cyber operations, cyber defense strategies and tools, and malware.
- Working knowledge of networks, network-traffic data, and virtual environments.
- Experience with network-traffic inspection tools such as Suricata, Arkime, or Zeek.
- Knowledge of big-data technologies such as Elasticsearch, Apache Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
- Cloud Engineering certifications, such as AWS Solutions Architect – Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Google Associate Cloud Engineer, IBM Certified Technical Advocate - Cloud, CCSK, Google Professional Cloud certifications, or CompTIA Cloud+.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop cloud-based infrastructure, applications, and services that meet requirements, including selecting cloud platforms, creating architecture diagrams, and developing automation scripts.
- Engineer and integrate new or upgraded mission-essential applications into cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Monitor cloud-based systems and optimize resources for cost-effectiveness and high availability.
- Resolve issues using analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Implement security measures such as encryption and access controls, and audit cloud environments for compliance.
- Apply knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addressing, DNS, and load balancing.
- Optimize applications and data-processing pipelines to use computing and data-storage resources efficiently.
- Support the evolution of DevSecOps processes and tools and ensure CI/CD processes are in place and used for new or upgraded applications.
- Proactively and effectively communicate system-related issues to technical leads.
- Stay current with cloud-computing advances and research opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Research and apply new tools, techniques, and solution approaches.
- Continue learning and improving skills through knowledge sharing and available training.
