About The Position

The Clothing Supervisor oversees linen and laundry functions at the Smithfield Utah Temple, ensuring clean, well-cared-for temple clothing and linen supplies for sacred ordinances, temple patrons, Church Service workers, and employees. The position also orders and maintains clothing and linen inventory. In a large temple with a medium volume of clothing issued, the role includes administrative oversight of volunteers, staff, finances, and technical operations.

The position supports a positive and uplifting experience for temple patrons and helps maintain and operate the temple according to standards established by the First Presidency. Only endowed Church members worthy of a temple recommend qualify for employment in the Temple Department.

Requirements

• Three years of relevant experience, such as supervisory or commercial laundry experience.
• At least one year of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of inventory control, budgeting, and personnel assignment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and to bend, kneel, stoop, pull, push, perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced environment, and stand for long periods.
• Must be an endowed Church member worthy of a temple recommend.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff, including volunteers and ordinance workers.
• Control labor, equipment, and operating-supply expenditures to operate a break-even operation; maintain a safe work environment and keep costs within budget guidelines.
• Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and repair for temple clothing and other linen supplies.
• Ensure all temple areas have adequate supplies of clean linen.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate employees and volunteers.
• Order the yearly supply of temple clothing and maintain a one-year supply.
• Maintain a proper clothing inventory system.
