About The Position

The Clothing Clerk supports a positive and uplifting experience for temple patrons by laundering, mending, and caring for clothing and linens used in the temple. The role operates commercial laundry equipment, prepares clothing and linens for use, provides clothing to patrons, and maintains laundry equipment and production records. The Clothing Clerk typically reports to the Clothing Supervisor and provides guidance and direction to temple volunteers and service missionaries.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of work experience, preferably in laundry, retail, customer service, or a related area.
• Ability to organize, lead, and manage volunteers.
• Ability to follow instructions and be teachable.
• Ability to work well with others and stay focused on tasks.
• Demonstrated, consistent excellence in customer service.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including bending, kneeling, stooping, pulling, and pushing in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to climb a step stool and/or ladder and stand for long periods.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be an endowed member of the Church and worthy of a temple recommend to qualify for employment in the Temple Department.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial laundry equipment and prepare clothing and linens for temple use, including sorting, washing, drying, hanging, pressing, folding, and assembling items.
• Train service missionaries and volunteers in daily laundry operations, and oversee their work and prioritization of laundry tasks.
• Serve patrons courteously by providing temple clothing in appropriate sizes and ensuring sufficient clothing is available; may oversee clothing rental operations.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on laundry equipment, including cleaning machinery, filters, vents, and screens, and changing washer chemicals as needed.
• Spot-clean clothing with appropriate cleaners and solutions; may assist with steam-pressing and other ironing responsibilities.
• Track and maintain daily production records as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
