About The Position

Virginia Tech is seeking a Clinical Systems and Operations Coordinator to join Schiffert Health Center in Blacksburg, Virginia, supporting the Health and Wellness programs of Student Affairs. Schiffert Health Center provides care to students experiencing illness or injury and works to deliver high-quality, accessible, cost-effective, and culturally competent medical care and health promotion. This is a regular, twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment reporting to the Assistant Director of Clinical Systems and Administrative Operations. The coordinator provides day-to-day operational support for clinical information systems, workflow coordination, project implementation, data reporting and analytics, student experiential programs, organizational communications, and strategic initiatives across Schiffert Health Center and Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center. The role serves as a primary operational resource for EMR systems and clinical application support, reporting and dashboards, data quality monitoring, workflow documentation, immunization compliance communications, student program coordination, website content management, end-user support, and related initiatives. The coordinator works with Health Information Management, clinical and administrative departments, academic partners, Information Technology, and software vendors to support system operations, communications, program administration, and operational initiatives. The position offers a developmental plan and opportunities for advancement within the Department and Division. A criminal conviction check is required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Information Systems, Public Health, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience supporting business systems, clinical information systems, or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
Experience coordinating projects or operational initiatives.
Experience analyzing data and preparing reports or dashboards.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
Experience in higher education, healthcare, or student health services.
Experience with project coordination or project management methodologies.
Experience supporting Health Information Management or immunization compliance processes.
Experience creating reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar reporting tools.
Knowledge of healthcare workflow analysis, business process improvement, and system implementation.
Experience working with Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and other collaboration platforms.
Knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare privacy regulations, and data governance.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day operational support for clinical information systems and clinical applications, including EMR systems.
Coordinate workflows, projects, implementation activities, and operational initiatives across Schiffert Health Center and Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center.
Collect, analyze, and report operational and clinical data to support compliance, performance monitoring, decision-making, and continuous improvement.
Develop reports, maintain dashboards, and monitor data quality.
Document workflows and support immunization compliance communications.
Coordinate student experiential programs.
Manage website content and organizational communications.
Provide end-user support for clinical systems and applications.
Collaborate with Health Information Management, clinical and administrative departments, academic partners, Information Technology, and software vendors to ensure effective systems operations, timely communication, and successful program administration.
