Clinical Support Coordinator - Behavioral Health

Mindful Support Services•Austin, TX
•$80,000 - $90,000•Hybrid

About The Position

The Clinical Support Coordinator is an independently licensed behavioral health clinician who supports clinical quality, provider education, documentation excellence, and measurement-based care (MBC). Reporting to the Director of Clinical Strategy and Provider Success, this role translates quality initiatives into practical provider support, effective workflows, and measurable outcomes. Through provider consultations, workshops, chart reviews, and targeted follow-up, the Coordinator identifies improvement opportunities, provides actionable guidance, and partners with providers to strengthen clinical documentation, engagement, and quality standards. This provider education and quality-support role is not a treating clinician or clinical supervisory position. The Coordinator is expected to exercise strong clinical judgment, communicate recommendations confidently and professionally, distinguish meaningful quality concerns from differences in clinical practice, work independently, escalate concerns when appropriate, and balance provider support with accountability. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, and is based in Austin, Houston, or Dallas, with hybrid options available. Salary is $80,000–$90,000 annually, depending on experience.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Active, unrestricted license permitting independent clinical practice in a behavioral health discipline (e.g., LMHC, LPC, CMHC, PsyD, or PhD).
  • At least five years of post-licensure experience in behavioral health clinical practice or a related clinical role.
  • Demonstrated clinical judgment and confidence assessing documentation, identifying meaningful quality concerns, and communicating clinically grounded recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health assessment, medical necessity, treatment planning, progress documentation, risk assessment, and ethical practice.
  • Ability to explain clinical reasoning clearly, navigate difficult conversations, and recognize the limits of available information and personal expertise.
  • Experience educating, consulting with, or providing substantive feedback to fellow clinicians.
  • Ability to develop provider-facing materials and facilitate engaging, practical workshops.
  • Working knowledge of measurement-based care and its application in behavioral health.
  • Strong organizational skills, independent prioritization, and consistent follow-through.
  • Comfort using electronic health records, spreadsheets, tracking tools, and clinical technology platforms.
  • Comfort working quickly with some degree of ambiguity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a multi-state or MSO (Managed Services Organization) behavioral health environment.
  • Experience with behavioral health chart review, clinical quality improvement, utilization review, or payor audits.
  • Experience supporting independent clinicians in a multi-state provider network or management services organization.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted chart review tools and experience evaluating automated findings using clinical judgment.
  • Experience supporting measurement-based care implementation, provider adoption, or engagement improvement.
  • Experience interpreting provider-level performance data and translating findings into targeted education or follow-up.
  • Familiarity with payor documentation expectations and collaboration with billing, coding, and compliance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with providers to discuss documentation concerns, review chart findings, establish practical next steps, and explain the clinical rationale for recommendations.
  • Create and facilitate practical workshops on documentation, measurement-based care, and recurring quality concerns; develop provider-facing guides, examples, and communications.
  • Help providers incorporate client feedback and outcome measures into clinical workflows and documentation; identify adoption barriers and provide education, workflow guidance, or coordination with technical support.
  • Conduct routine and targeted clinically informed chart reviews, assessing clinical assessment, medical necessity, treatment planning, interventions, progress, and risk documentation.
  • Validate AI-assisted review findings against clinical records, clarify discrepancies, and translate findings into accurate, actionable provider feedback.
  • Assess flagged documentation, quality, and engagement trends in context; conduct targeted outreach and education, monitor follow-through, and escalate significant or unresolved concerns with an assessment and recommended next steps.
  • Coordinate assigned chart review and audit workflows, including requests, deadlines, provider communications, and follow-up, to support timely completion, consistent practices, and payor audit readiness.
  • Maintain accurate records of reviews, outreach, and follow-up; use recurring findings and improvement trends to recommend updates to educational resources, review processes, and provider support.
  • Partner with clinical leadership, Compliance, Billing, Provider Services, and other stakeholders to resolve concerns, clarify requirements, and coordinate issues requiring specialized expertise.
  • Independently prioritize assigned work, manage competing deadlines, follow through without task-by-task direction, and communicate emerging risks, capacity constraints, or issues requiring leadership input while respecting provider autonomy and the role’s scope.
