About The Position

The Clinical Support Assistant is an entry-level assistant to physicians, optometrists, nurse practitioners/physician assistants, and licensed or certified personnel, supporting direct and indirect patient care. The position works in an office setting during the hours the Clinic is available to patients and families.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
CNA certification.
Current CPR certification in accordance with American Heart Association guidelines, obtained within 30 days of hire.
Certification or licensure must be obtained within 90 days of eligibility to take the exam.

Responsibilities

Follow Clinic policies, including dress code, attendance, and Clinic Performance Standards.
Comply with Springfield Clinic incident reporting policies and procedures.
Follow OSHA and Springfield Clinic training requirements and policies.
Provide excellent customer service and follow Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
Assist with answering phones.
Clean clinical areas before and after each patient use.
Prepare patients for physician examinations and procedures.
Interview patients to determine their chief complaint and medical history.
Take vital signs and document results.
Organize medical information and place it in the patient record.
Complete department task lists as appropriate.
After training, perform office procedures under supervision, which may include blood draws and suture or staple removal.
After training, perform common point-of-care tests under supervision, such as vision screenings, urinalysis, glucose, and A1C testing.
After training, administer medications under supervision.
Schedule appointments effectively and efficiently according to patient needs.
Attend educational sessions for the job role.
Perform other duties as assigned.
