About The Position

The Clinical Services Representative 1 assists clinical staff by performing clerical tasks that support unit efficiency and provide customer service to patients and visitors. The role follows established guidelines and works under close supervision. Responsibilities include maintaining patient records, coordinating patient flow and services, supporting nursing staff with medication retrieval, and performing reception and other unit support duties.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent.
Communication, customer service, and computer skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to use office equipment and multitask.
Current BLS certification is required only in mental health departments.

Nice To Haves

Medical terminology training or medical assistant training.
Cerner (CIS) experience.

Responsibilities

Assemble and maintain patient charts from admission through discharge.
Collect printouts, file them in patient charts, run necessary reports, and retrieve data requested by physicians and nurses.
Order necessary equipment and unit supplies and maintain adequate inventory.
Process patient orders and requests for exams and ancillary services, including x-rays, lab tests, and transportation, accurately and promptly.
Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Retrieve medications from the pneumatic tube system and/or pharmacy, then deliver them to the nurse or place them in a secure location as determined by the nurse manager.
Assist nursing staff in retrieving medications from the pneumatic tube system and placing them in appropriate locations for administration by a nurse.
Greet patients, direct visitors, and provide patient information to medical staff.
Answer the phone using proper phone etiquette.
Respond to patient call lights promptly.
Keep the work area neat, clean, and orderly.
Maintain office equipment for the unit.
Call physicians for consultations and notify nursing staff of the consultation.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
