Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Department of Medical Physics is offering a two-year therapeutic medical physics residency. The start date is flexible between March and July 2026. Residents receive hands-on, high-volume exposure to advanced radiotherapy modalities and work with experienced mentors at a leading cancer center. The successful candidate will be compensated according to MSKCC standard rates based on experience. The Department of Medical Physics includes more than eighty faculty physicists and computer scientists, along with additional staff, who work on physical problems related to cancer diagnosis and therapy. Ongoing research and development includes real-time motion adaptation, predictive models using machine learning and AI for treatment planning, treatment-planning optimization, integration of MR and PET imaging into radiotherapy decisions and planning, 4D imaging and motion management, deep learning for image analysis and tissue segmentation, and informatics-based adaptive radiotherapy. The department’s resources include linear accelerators, an MR-linac system, HDR units, CT, PET/CT and MRI simulators, advanced imaging and motion-management capabilities, and access to a high-performance computing cluster with GPU resources. MSK also partners with the New York Proton Center, which has proton treatment rooms and related imaging and clinical support resources. Applicants must meet CAMPEP requirements by completing an accredited graduate or certificate program before entering the residency. Applications must include one merged PDF containing a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and a list of three references. References will be contacted after a shortlist is determined.
