About The Position

The Division of Biobehavioral Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina is hiring for a clinical psychologist position. The candidate will be integrated into an existing Behavioral Medicine Clinic. The position will include 100% clinical services in the Behavioral Medicine Clinic. There are a variety of clinical needs within the clinic, offering opportunities to choose populations of interest. Primary areas of need include transplant (pre- and post-surgical psychological evaluation and management), cancer (initial assessments and psychotherapy for patients with cancer and pre- and post-surgical psychological evaluations for bone marrow transplant candidates), gastrointestinal disorders (initial assessments and psychotherapy for patients with IBS, IBD and other GI concerns), and initial evaluations and individual/group psychotherapy for patients with co-morbid psychiatric and medical illness.

Requirements

  • Doctoral level, licensed Psychologist.
  • Valid unrestricted license to practice in SC (or eligible for licensure in SC).

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background and clinical expertise in health psychology.
  • Proficiency in providing empirically supported evaluation and treatment interventions.
  • Willingness to engage in quality improvement and research projects with Behavioral Medicine populations.
  • Interest in supervising trainees in psychology.
  • Enthusiasm in identifying opportunities for program development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 100% clinical services in the Behavioral Medicine Clinic.
  • Conduct pre- and post-surgical psychological evaluations and management for transplant patients (heart, liver, lung, kidney, living donation).
  • Provide initial assessments and psychotherapy for patients with cancer (new diagnosis, active treatment, survivorship, caregivers).
  • Perform pre- and post-surgical psychological evaluations for bone marrow transplant candidates.
  • Offer initial assessments and individual/group psychotherapy for patients with gastrointestinal disorders (IBS, IBD, etc.).
  • Conduct initial evaluations and individual/group psychotherapy for patients with co-morbid psychiatric and medical illness.
  • Engage in quality improvement and research projects with Behavioral Medicine populations.
  • Supervise trainees in psychology.
  • Identify opportunities for program development.
