About The Position

The School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Huntsville campus is seeking a Clinical Psychologist to provide comprehensive psychological assessment, psychotherapy, education, and clinical supervision services within an academic healthcare environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and adults with a broad range of mental health conditions.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from an accredited program.
• Completion of an accredited internship in Clinical Psychology.
• Licensed or license-eligible Clinical Psychologist.
• Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment and evidence-based psychotherapy across the lifespan.
• Strong interpersonal, teaching, and collaborative skills.

Nice To Haves

• Interest or experience in clinical research is highly desirable.
• A record of scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and participation in grant-funded research, is considered a significant asset but is not required.
• Opportunities may be available to collaborate on ongoing research projects and academic initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations utilizing a wide range of standardized assessment instruments and clinical methods. Assessments may include, but are not limited to: Cognitive and intellectual functioning (IQ testing), Learning disorders (LD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Personality and psychopathology assessments, Diagnostic clarification and treatment planning for complex behavioral and mental health conditions.
• Provide evidence-based psychotherapy services to children, adolescents, and adults, including: Individual psychotherapy, Group psychotherapy, Family psychotherapy.
• Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health professionals, educators, and other healthcare providers to ensure integrated and coordinated patient care.
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams and contribute to the development and implementation of patient-centered care plans.
• Provide teaching, mentorship, and clinical supervision to medical students, Psychiatry residents, Family Medicine residents, and other learners as appropriate.
• Participate in educational activities, including didactic instruction, case conferences, seminars, and curriculum development.
• Contribute to the academic mission of the institution through clinical education and professional development initiatives.
